Arsenal- Jack Wilshere says Arsene Wenger is not to blame
The midfielder says that Arsene Wenger’s position should not be questioned and that players must take responsibility for their defeats.
A 3-1 loss to Bayern Munich last night ended Arsenal’s Champions League Quarter Finals hopes. Last Saturday the Gunners were beaten again in the FA Cup against Championship Blackburn.
Wilshere told ITV Sport: “The boss has been here for 16 years and he’s been doing a great job so you can’t question him.”
Arsenal are fifth in the Premier League. They are four points behind Tottenham, who hold the last Champions League qualifying spot.
The Champions League is the Gunners’ only chance of claiming a trophy this season.
London Wasps sign Sale Sharks’ Kearnan Myall
Myall, 26, has played 23 games for the Premiership’s bottom club this season.
The ex-England Saxon joined the Sharks from Leeds in 2011 after their relegation to the Championship.
Wasps have also extended the contract of Marco Wentzel, 33. He is a former Leeds team-mate of Myall’s and has featured 23 times for the side this term.
Wasps’ Director of rugby, Dai Young, wrote on the club website: “Marco has been a huge performer for us over the past two seasons and continues to be a real leader for us at the lineout, it’s great to have him on board next season again” and “Kearnan is someone who has been an ever-present for Sale and someone who has really impressed us.”
Confidence from Chelsea’s Cahill
Chelsea defender, Gary Cahill, says there is confidence in the camp ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League second leg with Sparta Prague at Stamford Bridge.
He said “You’ve got to take these teams seriously, they’re a quality outfit and made it tough for us away from home but when we play at Stamford Bridge we should always be confident, it’s not a place many teams want to come and play.”
